Audrey Watters hat wieder eine Keynote gehalten – via Zoom an der City University of New York, kurz CUNY. Das Motto der Konferenz lautete „Toward an Open Future“ und Audrey Watters hat sich in ihrem Vortrag (den man wie immer komplett online nachlesen kann) ganz der „Future“ gewidmet: den Futuristen, Trendforschern, Beratern, ihrem Mindset, ihren Konzepten und Methoden und natürlich auch ihren kernigen Vorhersagen, soweit sie die Zukunft der Bildung betreffen. Hier eine aktuelle Kostprobe ihrer kleinen Auswahl: „Online learning will be the „silver lining“ of the coronavirus“ (Sal Khan, Gründer der Khan Academy, 2020).

Aber wie immer geht es ihr weniger um die Vorhersagen selbst, als um die Ziele, Methoden, Absichten und Motive „dahinter“, „the history of the future of education“ halt, wie es auf ihrer Webseite so schön heißt.

„That is, I think, what this conference gets at with its theme „Toward an Open Future.“ It is a reimagining of the teaching and learning and research, one that we must face with great urgency. We have to think about, we have to talk about, we have to make strides toward an open future before the futurist-consultants come in with their predictive models and techno-solutionism and tell the bosses they have to sell off the world to save it. These futurists promise certainty. They promise inevitability. And with their models, no one bears responsibility. „It was the algorithm,“ they shrug.“
