And things have gotten worse over the past two years.“ Das ist das Ergebnis einer Studie, die Dhawal Shah und Manoel Cortes Mendez von Class Central durchgeführt haben. Dafür haben sie sich 66 Kursanbieter angeschaut und mit Hilfe eines Open Source – Privacy Tools (Blacklight) untersucht. Das Ergebnis ist ernüchternd oder, andersherum, Bildungsanbieter verhalten sich nicht besser als andere Plattformen im Netz. Ausnahmen bilden zum Beispiel Khan Academy und freeCodeCamp.

„Of the 66 providers tested:
– 73% let Google track you.
– 71% let Facebook track you.
– 33% record your mouse and keystrokes.

Finally, between 2020 and 2022, the number of:
– Ad trackers increased on average by 43%.
– Third-party cookies increased on average by 166%.“
