Dieses Interview mit Phil Hill, einem profunden Kenner der amerikanischen EdTech- und Hochschul-Szene, ist etwas für Spezialist:innen. Ich verlinke es trotzdem hier, weil seine Einordnung von MOOCs in die EdTech-Geschichte interessant ist: „MOOCs, along with 2U’s initial business model, those were the two things that forced traditional higher education to get over themselves and say, we need to take online education seriously. If Stanford, Harvard, and MIT are saying it’s important and pouring millions of dollars into this, who are we to disagree? So, it broke that mentality of leave online to the continuing ed and to the for profits. So the lasting legacy is now you have most traditional colleges and universities who need to say “what’s our online strategy” …“

In Deutschland, so meine Einschätzung, gibt es zwar seit 2014 das Hochschulforum Digitalisierung, das in diese Entwicklung einzuordnen ist. Aber erst Corona, so meine Einschätzung, hat das Online-Lernen endgültig aus der Nische geholt.
