„VLE“ steht für „virtual learning environments“ oder, noch einfacher, Lernplattformen. In diesem Beitrag beschreibt Neil Mosley, was die britischen Hochschulen gerade nutzen: Moodle (42%), Blackboard (28%), Canvas (17%), Brightspace (7%) und wenige weitere (4%). Verträge laufen langfristig, der Markt ist relativ stabil, Blackboard verliert langsam, aber sicher Anteile. Und, nicht ganz uninteressant, Prophezeiungen, dass MS Teams zum zukünftigen VLE werden könnte, haben sich nicht erfüllt. 179 Hochschulen haben an der Umfrage teilgenommen. Gibt es eigentlich eine vergleichbare Erhebung in Deutschland?

Sein Fazit: „One thing is for certain, the VLE is set to continue to be the main hub of UK universities digital campus for some time to come. For all the talk of AI and other advancements, many universities continue to grapple with fundamentals such as digital accessibility, the consistency of student experience across the VLE and things that were talked up years ago like learning analytics.“
