Has online learning gone backwards because of the pandemic?

Ja, meint Tony Bates, die Pandemie bedeutete einen Rückschritt, weil vor allem das Modell der Vorlesung („video lectures“) übertragen wurde und das bedeutet synchrones Lernen. Online Learning ist aber viel mehr:

„In asynchronous online learning, the instructor is more of a guide, certainly choosing and directing students to content, but because of the isolation of online students, the design makes great efforts to create the three ‘presences’ of the Community of Inquiry model: cognitive presence, teaching presence, and social presence (a more constructivist approach). In other words, interaction between students and the instructor are an essential part of the design, as are directed student activities.“
