Ich finde die Diskussion um Learning Analytics noch immer etwas künstlich, weil wir (ich!?) hierzulande kaum Berührungspunkte damit haben. Aber das ist an vielen Stellen, zum Beispiel in den Staaten, schon anders. Von daher machen die Fragen, die Maha Bali stellt, schon Sinn, zum Beispiel:

„Also, if what happens once a student is “identified” as needing help, is automated, this makes me extremely sad. Because someone who is falling behind probably needs personal attention and care from the teacher or at least a TA.“

Stephen Downes hat in seinem Kommentar genickt, aber darauf hingewiesen, dass viele der Probleme, die KI lösen soll, ja in der traditionellen Präsenz-Hochschule entstanden sind. Deshalb:
„While I’m not disagreeing with the criticisms of learning analytics in this post, I’m not exactly agreeing with the argument that we need more humans to do the work. It seems to me that what we really need is better AI.“
