Die OEB (Online Educa Berlin) macht mit kurzen Artikeln und Berichten auf ihre Konferenz im November (27.-29.11.) neugierig. Dazu gehört auch dieser Blick in die Geschichte des Online-Lernens. Im ersten Teil geht es um die 1990er Jahre und die ersten Berührungspunkte und Erfahrungen mit „Learning Technologies“. Das Internet war da, Browser und Suchmaschinen, die ersten Learning Management Systeme, CD-ROMs, Instant Messaging Services; die Open University und andere Institutionen machten das Distance Learning populär. Die Autor:innen schreiben über diese „first decade of learning technologies“:

„Much like Odysseus’ trials on his journey home, the 90s were a decade of exploration, experimentation, and adaptation for educators. There were moments of uncertainty and plenty of obstacles, from slow dial-up connections to scepticism about the effectiveness of digital learning. But these challenges also led to great discoveries—ones that pointed toward a future where education was no longer confined to locations but could take place anywhere, anytime.“

Zwei weitere Folgen („The New Century: Navigating the Seas of Innovation” und „The 2010- 2024: Weathering the Waves“ sind geplant.
